Liam is the kind of guy who never takes anything seriously at all - he’s always trying to come off as charming as possible and he confronts any kind of real conversation with as much sarcasm as he can manage (Felix is his bff…to absolutely no one’s surprise)

he doesn’t really do relationships at all and before Mason he had a reputation for sleeping around quite a bit, so the two of them are pretty similar in that regard

at this point in the story he can definitely tell that he feels different with mason than he ever has with any of his flings before but he is in DEEP denial so he just tries not to think about it too hard, which isn’t working out for him very well because 1) his favorite coping mechanism is casual sex, and his preferred partner just so happens to be the cause of his issues in the first place, and 2) accidentally hurting mason at the ritual site is forcing him to confront all that gooey sentimental stuff that he tries not to think about 🙂‍↔️ so im looking forward to seeing how the m route progresses through book 4 and where the two of them will go from here!

rubbin my hands together like a little fly rn love character stuff and analysis stuff I’m a prince of rage let me explain while I was reading homstuck in that time of my life I was stuck in a situation where I couldn’t really get away with being mad about how I was being treated and I internalized that a lot and ended up being pretty like forcefully numb sort of like toxic positivity but more numbness then positivity and I’d shy away from anything or anyone to aggressive I’d definitely slip up and lash out so id like associate that time in my life with Homestuck cause that’s one of the things that got my through that time and as I read I worked through a lot I let myself express negative emotion like outwardly without blaming myself for it and I learned like a little ego is good that’s just self esteem and when I express stuff I lash out and blow up less and talking makes me feel better now I’m pretty damn good at deesclation learned how to control my environment better and I’m safer cause of it not totally out of the woods yet but definitely doing better much smarter about braving it out so I feel like there’s definitely the sense of princes almost destroying themselves by trying to remove my aspect rage from myself by controlling how I reacted cause I had to and then blowing up but then I learned how to express my emotions while still deescalting so I could stay safe even in rough spots and also communicate without getting aggressive cause my issue was I was good at talking and smart and I picked up on stuff but I’d get stop defensive when I talked it was aggressive and offputting so no one listened when I called stuff out(mainly old old shitty teachers shitty parents when I was still in school) but I got it now I can manage my tone while still being honest and call stuff out also I reported all those guys so it’s all good now so now it’s gone from suppressing things to blowing up to learning how to rebel and report in a smart way when and how to talk and put up a fight and how to manage my emotions and have support systems so thing don’t go sideways I’m in therapy and dude the other day my buddy said I was always the dude back in highschool who was like legit moral like I knew what was up when adults and people were being dicks I actually got praise for it it felt nice cause I always felt like a mess lashing out and I was but at least I sort of had the right idea just needed to flesh it out lol anyway dude I like the godtier polls and the analyzes and stuff this blog is cool take care also I like the outfit for the most part but the poofy asshole prince pants dont fit the vibe for me and I hate the fact I’d be stuck in tights NOT wearing those dude uncomfortable af I would not be able to I don’t like the feeling of tights bro

maid 9f doom here. im not really good at classpecting, I'm not even sure this is what truly suits me but I like to view classpects as my personal journey and it's hard to imagine what maid of doom really means to create with doom, when doom itself is destruction. my journey as a person was always to listen and do what I was told and I was miserable and I still struggle to find my own right in this miserable wrong world. ive been tossed from person to place and told to do everything right and i have this overbearing need to do what is right. reporting from the light poll! i'm a seer of light, and while we can find plenty of canon content for such a character, here's my opinion on it: 'light' as a class imho is about fortune, luck, knowledge, and relevance. i could point to about a million things in canon about that, but to simplify, these are all things that rose, vriska, and aranea, our canon light players, center themselves around in varying proportions. i also think that light players tend to have an association with pathways or courses of action, and have a good idea of their own path, whatever it may be. rose has a plan, vriska has plans to spare, aranea has plans. i choose light because, one, every quiz ever made tends to give me light, and two, i feel that set of characteristics fits me well. i have a plan, but it's not set in stone - i'm constantly looking for things that might divert its course. for seers, on the other hand, we have rose, terezi, and kankri, and a solid amount of information on all of them. seers are mostly regarded as a passive class, which i find interesting, because rose and terezi play extremely active roles in canon, and kankri as well to an extent. my thoughts on this are that while seers actively pursue knowledge of their aspect, the way they utilize the knowledge is passive - passing it onto their sessionmates to do with as they will, more often than not. a seer rarely directly intervenes, and instead seeks understanding of their aspect and tries to foster something of that understanding in those around them. i chose seer for myself because i have a very 'everyone else's choices are their own, but i want to have all the information i can' attitude towards life. i'll tell anyone things that i see and may be relevant to them, but it's on them to make their own choices after that. i'm obsessive in my pursuit of everything that i crave knowledge of, from hobbies to my profession to the world around me. alright, that's enough of a wall of text. yes i've been called a rose kinnie, and that's fine, i too am a goth lesbian, so how could i complain? thanks for running these polls, they're incredibly interesting! have a wonderful (whatever time it is for you) :)

i get to have 2 classpects because im built different. prince of light and knight of void sit around in my head and beat each other up all day. probably to be expected by someone with 2 classpects, i used to super heavily identify with the heart aspect. i went through a bunch of different classes while the comic was updating when i was vibing with heart. i still enjoy and identify with the heart aspect to an extent but having 2 distinct classpects is much more accurate for me personally.

hell yeah dual classpectorz. i luv it. dual classpectors have my sword. i also i guess dual classpect, but i never rlly understood the heart aspect @ all until rlly recently. wonder how many others relate to u or myself here. for me anyways, i just see space & breath as very interrelated concepts & the way they overlap is rlly specifically relevant in my life, yk? fun stuff :J

What's the inspiration behind your avatar's design? I've already noticed references to kirby, mario/luigi and parappa, but what about the outfit?

funny enough, if you would believe it, theres zero influence from the mario series when it comes to the current mar katoto design! the moustache is mainly there because i have a moustache in real. i like my facial hair! matter of fact, just for prosperity's sake, lemme just post one of the original design documents when i conceived the character:

(not seen in the inspirations as well is OK KO, specifically the arms + wristbands were directly inspired from KO, as a means to separate the arms/hands for posability and easy separation of color combinations. parappa is unmentioned just cause i didnt think it needed mentioning lol) this image was made all the way back in december of 2020 and, as you can see, its A LOT of kirby. unfortunately, due to the lack of art skill at the time, a lot of concepts i had for the character arent as particularly fleshed out as id like it to be, which is why i find that a lot of folks incorrectly attribute certain elements of the design to other characters/series that are unintended. its definitely a lack of foresight on my part. ive learned from that now, for sure. although, it's funny lookin' back on this - even the way i draw this particular incarnation of my character has changed a LOT LOL

however, ive been working on a version 2 design that ive talked a lot about multiple times in the past. the design i have is pretty much final and it takes things in a different direction. unfortunately, i havent done much with it now-a-days just 'cause i havent had time to fully finish it + my own self-doubts creeping in LOL yall know how it is

i hope this was interesting/shed some light into my character design process! ive certainly grown and improved since then and i hope youre all looking forward to any future designs by me!

lemme ramble for a bit

so i have this story in my head of my self insert and the bs they go through while working at the pizzaplex for like 2 years as a night guard

and originally they were gonna die at the end of it before the events of security breach, smth about them finally getting what they wanted bc that’s one of the reasons they wanted to work there in the first place. but i thought that was way too sad, despite, yknow, it being a horror and if i was in their place id definitely be dead before then. plus there are some things worse than death in the fnaf universe. so i decided to veer away from angst for this story and go for a more thriller horror (maybe psychological) type thing yknow? makes it more fun

THEN i was like yo what if ghosts kids start haunting them to help them find their killer and there’s like 1 for each pizzaplex animatronic (excluding freddy and roxy bc they got gregory and cassie). and it could be super angsty bc 2 of the kids were inadvertently killed because of moon and one was killed by moon, and my s/i is super close with moon right? so it would be like a moral dilemma, bc they want to help the kids but they still want to be friends with moon, but they’re also horrified that he killed a kid. and my s/i would start dreaming and sleepwalking, forced by the ghost kids to relive their deaths to try and find who killed them. but then i started thinking about the timeline of that, and it would mean moon would’ve had the virus or whatever years before this story takes place, which isn’t what i wanted nor did it make sense. so after a while i was just like nahhhh, and it didn’t really mesh well with the story of security breach anyways, its more sci-fi than supernatural now, and including the ghost kids would just be too much crammed into self insert story i have. the kids designs im still gonna use tho lol

NOW after getting back into fnaf after like a few months of not really caring about the lore, i’ve been watching more theory videos and book summaries and stuff like that and it made me shift my whole view on security breach’s story

so i’ve decided that i wanna stick as close to canon lore as possible and make gregory and vanessa/vanny more present and important. i want to focus more on the issues with ai, and show the slow downfall and problems with depending solely on them. i also need to figure out why my self insert has plot armor bc anyone in their situation would’ve been fired or killed by now (i don’t have to stick that close to canon for this i guess). but im just gonna justify it as they’re a pushover who doesn’t ask any questions and just does what they’re told, which is pretty much what got the other employees fired or killed bc they did the opposite (they’re also a huge nerd about robots so they end up being good friends with all the animatronics which is a HUGE plot point in this story, friendship is the real magic love conquers all etc. etc.) don’t get me wrong, they are fully aware of how wrong things are in the pizzaplex and how some things vanessa has told them don’t add up, but they are a good little employee (they are a severe people pleaser) so they feign ignorance to it all.

my self insert being autistic and having adhd is also a big thing i wanna include, bc there’s some really specific shit about their autism that would affect how they survive and stuff. things like trauma responses, masking, unmasking, meltdowns, and shutdowns that will affect their relationships with the others and will domino affect over time and lead to them surviving. idk ive just been thinking a lot lately about social interactions and experiences i have that are negatively or positively impacted specifically because of my autism. choices choices

i also want to make sure that it’s clear how neglected all the animatronics are. not just the dca since it is intended to be a s/i x sun and moon story. but there’s a lot of issues the in game messages have talked about with the animatronics that seem to happen because no one is bothering to help them. they just put a bandaid on a situation but they don’t fix the root problem yknow. also, my s/i doesn’t think the animatronics are sentient at first, and i want that to be a big thing that gets explored several times throughout the story bc i love thinking about robot sentience.

at first i was gonna have monty sort of start to be nice to my s/i, and maybe they could be friends or even have a sibling type relationship (red hair lol) but then i was like nah, monty being an asshole is what makes his character interesting. plus his behavior is a nice contrast from the rest of the band. though i think it would be funny for some characters to think monty is my s/i’s favorite at first bc their hair is dyed red

i also want sun and moon to be as close to canon as possible. while i love love LOVE pretty much every dca x reader fic i ever read, i have a preference for canon depictions of sun and moon lol. no hate to fanon depictions of sun when i say this, but ive been lost in the sauce of fanon sun for too long, and i wanna make him passive aggressive, and sarcastic, and picky, and fussy!! but still an anxious wreck and a people pleaser perfectionist. i’ll admit im still struggling with this. it was kinda hard to get a gauge on his personality at first because until help wanted 2 we had only seen how he interacts with kids. and even though in universe that isn’t the real sun it’s the only indication we have of how he interacts with adults, so im taking it. moon is still gonna be mischievous, creepy as hell, and won’t talk much, but he’s not gonna be killin anyone (yet), he’s just gonna be kind of a stalker lol. also the dca and freddy have beef for some reason, it’s a personal head canon of mine but im adding it to this story hehe

lots of physical injuries, several concussions, a migraine so bad they loose the ability to communicate properly (smth i experience) will all happen to them, bc i am throwing them through the ringer. they will be stressed more often than not. get projected on idiot (i say that as if this isn’t my self insert and is literally me)

tbh this story would mostly be just a slice of life, shenanigan, character driven thing for most of it. but then little things brought up in the past will become important to the plot later on.

like how copyright music can’t be played in front of any of the animatronics or else they will freak out :]

14. Talk about the fic’s opening scene & how you approached it

the opening scene was pretty much the first idea i had that spiraled way out of control, but originally the plan was to write something that started and/or culminated in erin coming out to hawkeye and going to him for advice and the soul searching that would prompt. i'd had them fight before in maple syrup about the thought that some of the crowd BJ ran with as a teenager might have bullied hawk so with that kind of insecurity in mind wanted to go in a slightly different direction with their argument in bed. while that stuff was percolating i was also deciding that i wanted hawk's insecurity about his sanity (coupled with his lack of insecurity about his sexuality) to be a major theme along with undertones of his obsession with being right/how that might look different from an obsession with the truth which i think he also has (and which i totallyyyyyy don't relate to at all. lol) and i thought doing a time jump straight into another crazy fight would also be a good way to set the tone and structure up for the whole thing to be totally nonlinear <3

15. Talk about the characters’ struggles & how you decided on those

i would say i pretty much wanted to explore the same themes i always do when it comes to mash and specifically hawkeye stuff - and they each would get a specific chapter though all the storylines would be pretty thoroughly interspersed. so that ended up as queerness/sexuality, sanity/craziness/rationality, passion/principle, and childhood/family trauma. i was writing it pretty much in "chronological" order and labeling each vignette with which chapter it would belong in, then going through after the fact to try and make each chapter relatively cohesive

16. Talk about the fic’s biggest moment & how you came up with it

god that's such an interesting question and i'm really curious what you think the biggest moment is... because i feel like the whole thing is just so many tiny moments. BUT to me i feel like so much culminates in the diary entry where we learn what the "friedrich engels" refrain is all about - though objectively it's such a tiny moment and it doesn't even get any "scene" around it, just the entry - but i feel like it recontextualizes so much of the earlier stuff and like makes it richer if you ever go back and reread it, and also that like the point is that she was prescient and right, that hawk does end up cynic and lover, skeptic and disciple <33 i wrote all the diary entries when i was writing all the other college-era stuff and i obviously had a lot of fun with that one (dialectics of nature is also crazy good in my opinion especially if you have a passing interest in science, especially chemistry and physics). i suppose the last scene might also qualify, which really came from like the EM forster who lives in my mind making sure i give everybody a happy ending and that my dad loves the song teach your children so much and really instilled in me that it's like the quintessential song to enjoy with your family and i definitely give daniel pierce some quite similar qualities to my father lol

Scratch is my original yandere x reader story that was started in 2022 and as of a few days ago has a whopping nine chapters :'). (I'm trying, I really am)

Well the basic expectations are yandere chase, darling run. And sometimes yanderes look down on yanderes who don't chase, and pretty much all darlings look down on darlings who don't run. Like if there's a yandere darling couple where the darling seems genuinely happy in the relationship, they will be heavily judged by other darlings. Outside of San Valentine, yandere behavior (stalking, kidnapping, murder, etc) is outlawed, just like in the real world. But in San Valentin, yanderes can do whatever they deem necessary to get their darling. The only thing they absolutely cannot do is murder darlings. Other yanderes are fair game.

Ive had an idea for a different fic that takes place in the same world setting, but I haven't posted it cuz it wouldn't be a yandere x reader it'd be a darling x darling. But it would mostly take place outside of San Valentine, so you'd get to see more of how the system works in this world. The majority of the world are darlings, and they are afraid of yanderes because... they're yanderes. Yans have to hide their identities both out of and in San Valentin. Out because if they're discovered they'll be sent to San Valentin and some yans don't want that, and in because darlings will avoid them if they know they're yandere.

Being yandere is definitely viewed as a bad thing by most people. Some people are sympathetic, while others are afraid or even disgusted.

San Valentin is definitely not a tourism spot lmao, people–especially darlings–avoid that place like the Plague. It's basically a high security prison but a city. And it is incredibly difficult to get in or out without clearance.

The priority question is a really good question cuz I had to reflect on it lol. Technically my priority is just writing it and publishing it lmao. I'm happy when I can get a chapter out at all. But my priority has always been establishing characters and relationships, because once we get into the real meat of the story, things are going to get very uh... danganronpa? I think? I'm not familiar with the series but from what I do know, it's gonna be like that lol. You never know who you can trust in San Valentin.

Im upset because I can't remember the title of my main inspiration!!! There was this story on Quotev that had a city of yanderes. I cant remember if that was a fic where yanderes were like an established entity? I'm really into the idea of yandere and darling as like... an established thing within a world setting. A great example of what I'm talking about is the yandere school series from @ozzgin (cw for NSFW content on that account be warned). But there was a city that was known for having a lot of dangerous/obsessive people, I just can't remember if they called them yandere. So Scratch is kinda me taking the idea of a city of yandere and adding established yandere society to it? But again I can't remember the name of the initial fic :(((( if I find it I will update this post with a link!!

so i just want to talk about the whole donnie and april thing from the 2012 series since i have a lot of thoughts on them both and need somewhere to just. get it out my system.

so off the bat im gonna say i’m pretty neutral about the april/donnie ship. i.. don’t really care for it but if it’s there it’s not gonna overly bother me. i’m pretty much on the fence for most things tmnt ship related (though, big exception for woodyangelo just cus. lol) that being said i do have some thoughts about how it was handled in the 2012 show.

as most people might agree, the writing for these two wasn’t great. i think, just in my humble opinion, that the writers kinda ping ponged back and forth depending on fandom criticism of the ship. one minute the relationship seemed to be slowly developing, a nice easy slow burn and then it’d take a sharp turn and it was back to a lot of uncomfortable pining and uncertainty as to where they would both end up. i think the writers wanted to appease both ends of the fandom here by making it somewhat ambiguous but it kinda blew up in their faces. big time.

so then you have the people who put all the blame on april for this. “she’s leading donnie on!” “she’s playing with both donnie and casey!” “she just wants the attention!” and, yeah. maybe. but here’s my defence: (bad writing aside for a moment, let’s pretend that all of this was done on purpose) april doesn’t know what she wants. when we meet april in the show it’s evident that she’s a little dorky and uncool and she doesn’t have ANY friends. she has irma but it seems to be one of those friendships built out of pure convenience. “oh you don’t have friends, i don’t have friends. cool. let’s hang out.” in every scene they have together it’s awkward and weird because they don’t really seem to click. april has like, as little social skills as the turtles. she doesn’t have friends let alone have TWO guys show her any appreciation and affection. how is she supposed to know how to deal with all that? she’s a teenage girl, feelings are complicated.

and some people might blame donnie. “he kept persisting even when she gave clear hints” “he was being a weirdo about it” “he made her uncomfortable” donnie is a teenage boy who happens to be a mutant. a mutant that lives underground and had never even MET a girl until they saved april. donnie’s only point of reference for romance is what he’s most likely seen on tv or in books. it’s that really cheesy affectionate stuff that might work in movies, but in real life is just strange. donnie has even less social skills that april. he’s only ever had his brothers and dad to talk to. he doesn’t know how to communicate his feelings properly because up until he met april, he probably never even knew what it was to have a crush on somebody

my headcanon for these two is that donnie is clearly autistic. he’s very overly empathetic towards april but can’t understand why his efforts aren’t paying off like he thinks they will. i think april being a young teenage girl with a lot on her plate, might not recognise why donnie is acting this way. ive seen a lot of people also headcanon that april is aromantic which i totally 100% love and agree with. i don’t think she recognises this in the way donnie recognises his own autism. it causes them to clash, and neither of them really understand why that is, and can’t quite communicate it to the other until they’ve figured themselves out.

a lot of people say that 2012 ruined the donnie and april friendship that was pretty strong throughout the franchise but honestly, even the 2003 show had pepperings of donnie’s slight crush on april, even back then. it’s not as obvious but it was definitely there. obviously it never got brought up, which imo is a little heartbreaking to think of poor don harbouring these secret feelings for his friend and then having to just. get over it when she marries casey but i think their friendship is still pretty special to them both that it eventually stops becoming an issue for him.

2012 donnie was a social wreck. he had no clue what he was doing and i think the writers could have done waaaay better in making that less of a fault and more of just. idk. just something that made people hate him a little less. it’s in the same vein as mikey’s adhd. i think the writing was a product of its time and that’s why mutant mayhem tackles those issues way way better than 2012 ever did.

it could also be said that donnie and april don’t even really have a lot in common, like some iterations. she’s smart but she’s not a scientist, and donnie’s crush is first of all born out of just physical looks, meaning that maybe donnie just happened to latch onto her because he felt a teeny glimpse of normality (“i could love a girl and she could love me back”) and kinda just held onto that. any of the other girls in the show, donnie doesn’t really draw himself towards but that’s because the other girls are mostly his brothers love interests and donnie is a firm believing in sticking to the bro code lmao (although maybe just from mikey’s perspective, but donnie does seem quite friendly with renet but that might have just been a 2003 callback perhaps, but they have more in common than her and mikey do)

all in all, the donnie/april thing could have been handled way better, especially with casey thrown into the mix. but is there one person solely responsible for the way their relationship played out? absolutely not. they both crossed some boundaries and both made some mistakes that backfired but like i said, they are far from perfect and looking back on their arc together, it’s a little heartbreaking to see how.. unsure they both are, of themselves and of each other. but that’s just my two cent on the whole thing.

i don’t think female characters were the 2012 writers strong point sadly and april suffered as a result but i genuinely think in her good moments, she shines. and donnie isn’t a creep, he’s just a good kid that wants to find his own happiness, even if he looks in the wrong places, both their intentions are good, i believe.

hiii! ive lowk been *obsessed* with Our Wonderland since like, the begining of summer and OH MY GOD?! i unfortunately couldnt llisten to it with the music since i only had time to play it at like 2:00 am BUT the storytelling is fucking awesome, the fact that each character is some shade of morally gray instead of having a "super good ive never done anything bad ever" protag and a "haha im evil im never redeemable" antag we got to see like, a lot of complexity in the characters, and you really dont see that often. Especially with Iggy because even he did some pretty bad stuff (mostly in arc 3) and like it adds a sort of nuance to the game and i literally love it so much. uhm uh yeahhh thats basically it like i just really really like your storytelling it lowk had me questioning my morals and rethink some relationships ive had and like its such a good game like more people need to play it bcuz its so like complex and the narritave is so good and i just love it so muchhhjhhj!!!!

and thats not even talking about the art like holy shit? not only is ur artstyle like, AMAZING, but you were able to have a bunch of animated scenes and a shit ton of different character sprites and im like "wow" cause like thats honestly like really impressive. the thing that made me wanna play OW was the art cause i really like visual novels that have art in them.

wahhhh... this is really sweet... thank you so much... 😭💕 i'm really happy that you like the game and chars so much. lkdjafd i'm glad you say that tbh. it was definitely something i wanted to get across in the game... like... that there's no "wrong" and "right" or "bad" and "good" and that we all make mistakes and hurt people we care about. but it's less about the mistakes themselves and more in how you learn and get better and grow (and ofc talk and apologize, etc.), which is something the cast in general is not great at LOL i wanted all the chars to have deep flaws...

hmmm as for inspo, i've said before that the initial kernel of an idea came back when i was still in school and got really into horror vns, creepy vocaloid songs, games like american mcgee's alice, etc., and it just grew from there over many years of living with the idea and having it evolve. as for the chars themselves, that is something that i honestly could not tell you exactly where they each individually came from. like i had a general idea of the types of chars i wanted but as for their designs and such i mostly just sat down one day and drew them. and much of their characters grew and evolved both before and even during production. so there's no real single source for any of it lakjdfasd it was just a lot of various thinking, dreaming, and getting inspired by a variety of random little things over many years...

first of all. calling him homer made me scream. 😂 second, thank you! this is so many words and they are all very kind and fun. I think currently the fic I've written that's closest to this premise is Don't Fret, Precious (I'm Here) which features a reader that's ultimately pretty into his whole deal, and fairly deranged herself.

I definitely want to write more macabre readers though, and I love this gomez/morticia angle you're talking about. I've had a WIP in the wings for ages where the reader herself is a serial killer that Homelander catches, but ultimately decides to cover for because he's intrigued by her bloodlust. it's very much a yandere x yandere. it doesn't fit into the idea that the reader is harmless, but... fiction is fiction, right? no one's really hurt! lmao

also, Ludo is one of my favorite bands!!! I actually almost named this fic "The Horror Of Our Love" but ultimately decided "The Horror Was For Love" suited it a little bit better.

ill do both of these! i had a game years back (pretty sure inspired by a Prokopetz post) called Party Planners, where youre a high-level adventuring party who spends more of their time throwing galas and managing your reputation as heroes and adventurers than you do actually saving the world. the idea was you had to meticulously schedule everything with a diegetic calendar, so you could make sure to attend all your rivals' events, set up your own, and fit in some adventuring on the side. new dungeons would pop up periodically and everyone would scramble to explore them first for the best loot and biggest bragging rights, but can you afford to do that when the same weekend youve gotta accept an honorary diploma from the wizard school? sadly the concept never got anywhere past "god thatd be really funny" despite trying to make little prototypes several times. i did wind up using a pared-down version of the calendar mechanic in Unskilled Labor though, so thats neat!

and for the flipside, BXLLET! i think ive told this story before, but i had BXLLET 95% done on my hard drive for three months before i finished and released it, because for some reason i was really struggling to get it to a place i was happy with and didnt wanna look at it. if it werent for my friends' passion about it, i dont know that i would have released it at all! which is such a weird thought now that its undeniably my most successful game, lmao. just goes to show, perfectionism's the enemy! reject its vile promises and put yourself out there, flawed and vulnerable, and let the chips fall where they may!

working on large, long-term projects is definitely a struggle for me. ive been getting better at it, im happy with how KATABASIS is coming along even if i wish i could put out releases faster, but i definitely long to be one of those folks who can disappear for a few months and come back with 300 pages yknow? as it is i tend to juggle a couple projects at once, and then switch between them as the mood strikes or as i get blocked on something, and that helps me get things done but doesnt really lend itself to working on A Magnum Opus yknow

on a much more minor note, i wanna get better at worldbuilding around food. i cook! a lot! im pretty good at it! and yet for some reason whenever i sit down to write about food it doesnt come out right lmao

His personality, his dynamics with the others even his bursts of English but especially his bond with Karen/Shirley it's so sweet especially when you learn his backstory and how he literally lost a functioning eye to save Karen from a poachers trap they're such good friends

Like sure Thomas is a two faced asshole but he's an enjoyable one. I guess you could say I dislike the fact he couldn't be honest with Shark about what had been done until they duel in the WDC since he actively says "I didn't mean for that fire to happen to your sister that part was on tron" but I'd say it's got something to do with his ego and that he kinda enjoys antagonising Shark at the moment of introduction

Jim you could fault for not having the foresight to not leave judai alone in 136 right after sho runs off but in both his and O'brien's defence that boy had been way too reckless and not staying put anyways when he'd SPECIFICALLY been told "don't go rushing on ahead" so I'd rather not because A they did come back for him and B it's not like they knew he was going to become Haou.

I could also say this is less something I dislike about him and more just a "I wish" but the fact that he's not in S4 does sting a bit when he was such a central character in S3 like you have Saiou, Johan and O'brien coming back in that season and he's the only one truly missing minus Misawa. I think it was more something to do with his VA exiting the scene but still if we had gotten an expanded S4 It would've been cool to see him again

[WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THEIR APPEARANCE]

Definitely the colour scheme for IV it's hard to imagine him in any other pallette, but definitely his scar, too, considering how recognisable it is kinda a shame they didn't give Rio any too but hey that's what the fans are for

Jim's I enjoy a lot for the Australian cowboy aesthetic but his face I really enjoy what with the hat and the bandaged eye to eventually reveal that he has a stone in the socket honestly seeing the eye of orichalcum revealed for the first time really was cool.

Would Gimmick Puppet Machina Fantasix be cheating in IV's case since it's a recent thing and it was never in the anime but I have a fascination with the cards that look like their archetypes user (Bujins too but they're different) bc I find it Like a funny display of the person's ego but the fact that he has one that looks like his public face and one that shows his freaky side is just really amusing to me because it just means his fanservice ego goes two ways (you could also see it as him viewing himself as a puppet on strings too)

Jim's would be Fossil Knight Skull Convoy especially with how it actually gets used as transportation in Dark World

It's hard to say with IV because most moments he's on screen are great but I like the scene right after he's beaten by Shark in the WDC where he's finally being vulnerable to not just Shark but Yuma Astral and Kotori behind the charming front and the freakyness and anguish is a middle child genuinely expressing that he wishes for his father to go back to being the one he once knew

Jim I could honestly say the entirety of his duel against Haou it's so good. He may of lost (along with his life) but you can really tell how earnestly he was trying to save a friend from his darkness

Least favourite scenes

If I had to select one I guess it would be the reveal that he's the one Shark was facing back then when he was disqualified from that tournament for cheating more so because it gives us a reason to hate him as much as Shark did

Jim's case I'd say that one scene in 114

Its less because of him and more just my issues with the whole life for a life going on in that duel and the fact that Asuka needed saving in the first place like cmon ygo don't have the woman nearly drown dangit but I am glad he saved her from drowning regardless

hellooo again welcome to my media roundup, where i talk about things i read/watched/played this month! (…and by last month i mean AN ENTIRE MONTH AGO. WOOPS in my defense i got sick [better now]) in july i downloaded tachij2k, which im going to be shilling forever as the best way to read manga on android (apk on github here) this also means that ive been reading like, a Lot of manga lol so i split books + comics into two.

books:

vita nostra by Marina and Sergey Dyachenko: a metaphysics-ish novel about a girl who is blackmailed into going to a magic school. sort of a subversion where (unlike many magic school books) it basically is all about learning and stuff? im kind of a sucker for books written by married couples i think its really cute and also kind of fascinating... um i sort of disagree with its approach to pedagogy but its also sort of about the blood sweat and tears part of learning,, where i usually quit beforehand LOL. got that eastern european hopeless and drudgery (?) but idk i would definitely recommend

the great believers by rebecca makkai: historical fiction that swaps between an art curator-y guy living through the aids epidemic in chicago and his friend in the present who is trying to reunite w her estranged daughter. i really liked this!! super devastating obviously literally scooped me like a melon. very well researched! i hadnt really grasped like. the sheer terror and paranoia? that happened during the aids epidemic before..... thats my lack of contemp history knowledge but it was good i learned a lot. liked the theme of sort of surviving through tragedy and even after.. and the line drawn between the lost generation (war) and yales own exp (EDIT: found sth i wrote after reading the book which said "people are living their own intricate and mundane stories and then the stories of the world smash straight through them")

assassin of reality (vita nostra sequel): sasha knows what she will become--has embraced it, even. but theres always something that can be lost, and the institute still has a heavy hand over her.<or sth like that??? the reveals of the last book kind of make it a hard act to follow and the book definitely felt a lot more abstract... ik some people complained about the romantic subplots but i feel like it gives stakes and grounds everything else, yk? it gives you a thread to hold onto otherwise i mightve given up LMFAO that being said i did enjoy it :3 wondering if what happened to the authors will change the vibe of the next book... :(

movies/tv: room with a view: a young english girl travels to italy and finds love there--but has to choose between that love and a 'proper' life. ok this was fine. idk it was cute and funny sometimes but didnt leave that much of an impression sorry :T

past lives: two childhood friends reconnect, lose touch, then reconnect again. aughjjj those two silent minutes where they were waiting for her ride were so freaking agonizing. really good acting pretty film i just enjoyed it a lot in general! :3 i didnt like the boyfriend that much at first but the conversation they had in bed made them feel like a real relationship, you know? wish theyd had a 3some though maybe it will happen in past lives 2: paster life. idk its like most of the time we dont grow up to be who we thought wed be or do what we thought wed do... but is that really so bad? cant you still be happy? *clutches my head

the rehearsal: a "reality" show about nathan fielder, who believes that any difficult situation can be rehearsed--and has the budget to put that belief into practice. ok like last year or sth everyone was like omg this show was sooo good but i didnt really get what it was about? but its actually really so interesting.. and the whole blurring between fiction and reality as well as the audience not really knowing which parts are staged and which parts are 'real' is so fun! i was a little bit disappointed when it diverged from the episodic format but that ended up paying off bigtime and was really like idk heartbreaking and funny and all of that. very recommend 👍

video games:

super mario odyssey: (replay)super fucking mario yay!!! in the long run, odyssey didnt have as much like. cultural staying power as botw did (they were both switch launch titles) but its still soooo imaginative and pretty and dense! i love platformers love 2 run and jump.

visual media: he was my brother: psych horror manga about a young girl who tries to grow closer to her recently-deceased brother's partner. omg i had so much fun with this the art is so atmospheric and delightfully creepy...REALLY mind the warnings though. i think i ended up reading all of it in one sitting lmfao

nimona comic (reread): classic villain ballister blackheart is looking for a competent sidekick, but what he gets is nimona, a shapeshifting weirdo kid with secrets. i remember trying to reread this and going wow.... is nimona not as good as i remember? am i old? but it was actually just like early webcomic weirdness nimona is still pretty good! yay :3 i still like the comic better but i respect how they are adapted to their respective mediums and also come from different phases in the og authors life

The story of how I came to know my favourite announcer has a side to her I would have never imagined: oneshot f/f w the premise in the title. whether i write down stuff like this is pretty hit or miss lol and i had to look this one up to rmbr what it was but the art is so cute...simple plot but i enjoyed it :3

crossplay love otaku x punk: romcom where two highschoolers fall in love with the other's crossdressing alter ego (m/m?). i really liked this one actuallyyy its so silly and im also a sucker for love square shenanigans. ok also now that someone else said they think hana/shuumei is endgame so im thinking about it. not the right perspective for this but the crossdressing isnt really overly fetishized or like seen as bad or anything? also ppl make some really funny faces in this

breathless momentum (vol 2+3): r two womanizing musicians find love... in each other!? this is also another one of my favorites :3 the leads are so fun and also music yay music! i really appreciate when a romance is still able to present an interesting story even after the couple has gotten together..

damekoi r: sequel to "please love this useless me," (damekoi is like.. useless passion? i think) which is about a woman in her 30s who spends all her money on her college boyfriend and goes into debt and falls in with her shitty former boss. omg it was soooo cute like i already said its a romance set after the main couple has already gotten together. which is my favorite. but these guys are really fucking weird so they still have a lot of problems. having Another Man who fits michikos type and isnt totally evil come in to destabilize shibata and kurosawas relationship doesnt feel cheap bc their relationship is already not very stable? lol i think the first one is worth checking out if you love pathetic women

mr villains day off: a gag manga about an alien supervillain on his days off. ok this one is pretty much just centered around this fluffy guy who likes to look at pandas but its extremely not very deep but its very cute... i like it... i also like pandas

how do we relationship/so do you want to go out, or (reread): f/f slice of life/drama manga about a girls first lesbian relationship in college. ok this is like "the" yuri manga for me i would recommend it to any fans of femslash its like sort of very realistic feeling? in the way that a relationship can sort of degrade slowly through lack of communication and being different people i think its really great 👍

ichinose familys seven deadly sins: psychological drama. an entire family wakes up with amnesia from a car crash. they dont remember themselves or each other, but pledge to stay together and relearn how to be a family and try to find their memories again. but is it really worth digging up the past...? man this one really goes off the rails. but like in a fun way? has an interesting arc going on rn about like... what allowances do we give, what are we willing to forgive in a stranger vs a family member. pretty interesting!

oshi no ko (catchup): psych thriller about the twin children of a famous idol trying to deal with the legacy she leaves behind. ive been talking about this manga for a while to my friends lol its kind of like riverdale in that its sort of very good, sort of very bad--but overall just super engrossing! which makes sense in a way bc its about the entertainment industry but also about the relationship between an idol and their fan... um not so sure about recent developments though lol. a little bit scared to see where things go

blue period (catchup): a delinquent boy used to going with the flow decides to go to the top art school in japan. yeah blue period is really good. hope this helps 👍lets all never go to art school ever ok ^_^

still sick: f/f about an office lady who finds out her coworker writes and sells yuri doujins (like illustrated fanfiction?) on the side. its a classic! was nice to finally get around to finishing it :3

liar satsuki can see death: thriller about a girl who can see peoples deaths and tries to prevent them--except everyone thinks shes just a liar. ok this is notable bc it has the exact same like adventures and gaybait as shounen but its all girls instead. its good light entertainment! sometimes is um kind of horny for sth about high school girls so ymmv on that one

farming for love: m/m romance about a pharmacist who moves to the country after a bad breakup and meets a ~strong but silent farmer~. pretty average, but fun if youre into that kind of thing! not sure if i would really recommend it lol

chainsaw man 2: set after the events of chainsaw man proper, its an action shounen focusing on asa mitaka, a girl who kinda sucks :3 chainsaw man is so fun yayyy im happy to be reading it again excited to get hit by some more bricks! asa is a wonderful protagonist and fujimoto continues to write comitragedy (?) in a way thats kinda obscene but also very cool 👍rip single father denji

skip and loafer (comic): slice of life about an ambitious but awkward girl who comes from the country to start her high school life in tokyo!!!! and some guy i guess. omg ok this is like the slice of life manga for me rn (the anime is really good! finished recently check it out) its just really warm and nice. autistic girls win always lol truly a comic that makes you feel like there is love in the world

no home: webtoon drama about two guys who are trapped together in a haunted dorm. ok this comic makes me really depressed but its also about people who make each other better despite their best efforts. and also violence and hatred its really really good 👍sad about recent updates though.. i guess maybe the characters werent really meant to be friends in the long term

as someone who is all caught up on both shows - they're both fun 😄

this ask is from three days ago when I talked about how stay by my side (taiwanese show about a boy who can hear ghosts and the guy who gives him a break through touch) had a very fun sixth episode. i wasn't into the show that much but ep.6 gave me some heart-fluttering moments and cute angst that I neither took seriously nor disliked - it was fun for me because of the execution, the fact I don't take anything happening in the show to heart and because the show is short enough so I sensed a resolution was coming very soon 😁

now ive seen episode 7 as well and I can say 6 is definitely my fave. the conflicts are predictable, theres nothing really new but thats what goves you the safe feeling - you dont risk breaking your heart watching it haha. i'd recommend this in case you want a quick sweet watch with "cute silly boy denying his feelings" and "cold rude guy turned passionate suitor". it's the lightest watch i've seen in a while and it's my palette cleanser these days (everything I watch is angsty apparently and the angst supreme™️ trio of loa, of and dr hasn't even reared its ugly head yet lol)

stay with me (the og title of which I find real cute: "gege, don't run") is as far as I know a remake of addicted - a chinese bl that was Very direct in regards to what it's about and therefore got canceled AND banned and the main actors - banned from interacting with each other on tv or at public events for years; I thought swm would be a story set in the same universe or smth but as I watched the first episode I kept getting deja vu until I realised it's the same plot lol

it's about two teens whose dad and mom, respectively, got together - the boys claim to hate each other before they even meet, then fate brings them together without them recognizing each other and shenanigans ensue. it's about found family, finding common ground with parents you can't communicate with, about forgiveness and acceptance. the characters are very lovable <3 the crew is doing their best fighting censorship so it's very clear that the couple are not just bros. they can't, however, do what addicted did so many might prefer the 2016 show. I, personally, was not a fan of the mains in that - wu bi is too possessive for me in this version but his predecessor was Something Else

it's a very standard modern mainland china show. the reason im mentioning this is because of clips on tt and having not seen a cdrama in a while, i had the impression itd be more like a taiwanese or korean bl. the editing, dubbing, bizarrely cut scenes - nothing new in cdrama land. i was wondering if I would recommend it but I think I would, yes. some coincidences and plot points are just so beyond belief that you'd roll your eyes but it's not smth unheard of when it comes to asian dramas haha and I think you'd get so caught up in the angst, domesticity and hunting down hints spread around like easter eggs that you just won't mind the convenient plots (if you would care bout such a thing in the first place)

I'm doing a bad job at promoting this show but I do want more people to see it. the cast is perfect imo (..except for duo duo, I'm sorry but that bby cannot act..her face and aura suit the character though), the sets are all amazing (I like the school, I like su yu's home, I like the shared space later on etc.etc., all decor is very well picked and pleasant to the eye) and the moral of the story is heartwarming, its execution too.

you get passionate hot-headed athletic rich boy who's crazy for his equally smitten furrow-browed genius humble guy - they both value family and each other very much and are willing to do everything for those close to them. it's very endearing and their dynamic is swoonworthy, they're a complete power couple.

(also, spoiler, you get enemies to friends to lovers which is pretty neat)(the spark is there from day 1 tho)

anyways... yeah, today was the last day to get my DJMAX plays in before the season ended . it was also the due date for some math homework! i prioritized the latter but realized i wouldn't have enough time, so once i reached a comfortable spot... i hopped onto DJMAX and jumped into ladder match to continue my season grind and finish it off once and for all

first match was... already a bad sign . it was a 5B-only match, my worst out of the 3 modes i had selected, going up against someone that seemed to be highly proficient in it . played the first song (My Last Stand [5BSC 8*] and got destroyed INSTANTLY, at which point i feared i'd be knocked out like last time... until i was saved by a really good score on Can We Talk (Broken Dog Leg Mix) [5BSC 8*] and an accuracy clutch-up on My Wonderland [5BMX 13*] to take back the win and kick off the banger sets!!!

i was in Platinum I a few sets later, so it was time to really lock in to hopefully reached the sacred Diamond IV and secure whatever fancy art it may have next season . charts and modes were a lot more varied and tougher now, so i took every chance i could get to screenshot any good scores and results which is what you're seeing here!! that's not to say it was completely devoid of notable scores though, as i somehow fully locked in and started getting back-to-back PPs again on charts like on Mukiliteo Beach [4BSC 5*], Carrot Carrot [4BMX 13*], STALKER [4BSC 7*], The Obliterator [4BSC 7*], Nurture Fortress [4BSC 8*], and my favorite... Satisfiction [4BSC 8*]!!! and of all of this, the only one that wasn't a sightread (and admittedly the one i already had a PP on) was Carrot Carrot!!! can you believe that!!!

and it was in that last match with the Satisfiction PP that i finally clutched up and the end and got just enough Clear Pass XP to reach the beloved, beautiful, long-awaited reward... of the LICK EMOTICON!!! I'M FREEEEEEEE

and so, the ultimate rushed DJMAX grind came to a close. i got the emoticon, i learned my lesson on not finishing season passes so late (not really lol), and i had just enough time to finish my homework before the deadline... so with all that said and done (and my parents letting me know the TV would be free while they were out), i hopped onto my switch and booted up Just Dance to shake off my nerves and get some awesome new Megastars + level progression!!! Majesty was pretty good (one i only had 3 stars on before heading into this session, actually), but after trying Yameen Yasar (Extreme) for fun, i realized i could actually maybe get this for real... so after studying it for a bit and failing a few other runs, i GOT IT!!! with a solid 12,637 score at that!!! Yameen Yasar (Extreme) Megastar!!! not sure how many Extreme Megastars i have between every game, but this is most definitely the hardest one i've gotten!!! man, what a good day today was between every accomplishment and score i set...

UPDATE!!!: some scores i forgot about due to them being buried all the way in the Fortnite folder, it's a rush to get my plays in on the recently-released The Way I Are before it could rotate out of the spotlight!!! i knowwww it was late and i should've just gone to do it the next day, but i was free from both homework and djmax!!! i needed to celebrate one way or another!!! and so i did!!! played through every (non-pro) instrument on every difficulty to get the highest score i could on them, and i think i did decently! not the best on Some charts, but i took home #6 worldwide on Bass so i'm decently proud of myself :]
